Well today was rainy and nasty outside, so I decided to take the day to do some baking. I made Gingerbread dog treats for my friends, family and my dogs! It was a fun filled day of flour on my shirt, dough stuck to my fingers and sniffing dogs at my feet! To make the day even better, I got a new stove the other day and it works amazing!
Here is the recipe for you all! You can make a family day out of it! Thank you for reading! ENJOY!
4 cups Whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cup Old fashioned oats
3 tablespoons Powdered Ginger
1/2 teaspoon Cloves
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Baking soda
4 large Eggs
1 cup Molasses
2/3 cup Olive oil
1/4 cup Honey
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Mix whole wheat flour, old fashioned oats, powdered ginger, cloves, cinnamon, baking soda in a large mixing bowl.
- Add eggs, molasses, olive oil and honey. Mix until blended.
- Divide dough into 2 balls, roll out dough to thickness of your liking. Now start cutting your shapes (gingerbread men, christmas tree, candy cane) out of the dough.
- Place gingerbread men on cookie sheets.
- Bake 325 degrees for 20-30 mins.
- When you take them out of the oven they may feel slightly soft to the touch, but they will harden as they cool down.
- Let the treats cook at least a half an hour or until they are not to the touch before serving to your dogs.
- Repeat rolling out the dough, cutting shapes and baking them until dough is gone.
- Now enjoy your dogs chow down on the treats!!
