Dogs will love the comfort of this soft bed made from towels; you'll love the convenience.
It'l lightweight, easy to roll up and pack, and even machine-washable.
Tools and Materials

  • Sewing machine
  • 2 matching towels
  • 1/2-inch-thick polyester batting
  • Large sewing needle
  • Embroidery floss
Step 1
Cut 2 pieces of batting 1 inch shorter and 1 inch narrower than towels.

Step 2
Insert the 2 layers of batting into open end of towels, and sew up the last side.
Step 3
Stitch tufts in towels 6 to 8 inches apart: Using large sewing needle and a double strand of embroidery floss, stitch down through all layers and then back up about 1/8 inch from entry point.  Trim floss, and tie ends.  Repeat to make additional tufts.

Using floss that makes thread tails to tie this project is NOT a good idea. Self-respecting pups would pull out the ties when bored and so would most cats. Much better-leave the floss longer and thread a hand needle to bury the tails within the cushion. No tempting tails--no visits to the vet.

I would love one of those, but no way is my M going to bother making me one. Nice to know anyhow.

@ Pepper - I agree - I think if they want to add them they can and if they don't and have problem chewers then you shouldn't add them! Thank you for your input!

@ Twink - maybe M might make you one for a special occasion! :-)
